[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is seeking a temporary Bank Painter and Decorator for Thornford Park in Thatcham, Berkshire. The role involves leading decorating tasks, surface preparation, applying finishes, maintaining a safe environment, and supporting the maintenance team. The position offers flexible working hours and is part of a care provider serving individuals with complex mental health, learning disability, and autism needs.
Salary: £14.40 an hour | Contract: Bank | Closing date: 14 May 2026
Main Duties
As a Bank Painter and Decorator, you will be responsible for:
- Leading all decorating tasks
- Proper preparation of surfaces for painting
- Applying paint, varnish, and other finishes using brushes, rollers, or sprayers (where risk assessed)
- Repairing and maintaining painted surfaces, including touch-ups and refinishing
- Ensuring all decorating work is completed to a high standard and within project timelines
- Assisting with the selection and procurement of painting and decorating materials through the correct protocol
- Maintaining a clean and organized work area, ensuring all tools and equipment are properly stored
- Following health and safety guidelines to maintain a safe working environment
- Assisting in regular checks, repairs, and maintenance of all buildings
- Assisting the maintenance team where required and cover maintenance duties for periods of absence
- Assisting with coordinating and chaperoning contractors on-site, completing any required paperwork
About You
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
- Previous experience in Painting and Decorating
- Face-to-face experience of dealing with people
- Ability to work under pressure, and respond to the Regional Facilities Manager requests
- A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
Where You Will Be Working
Thornford Park is a 141 bed hospital set within 21 acres of Berkshire countryside, offering a seamless care pathway across medium and low secure services, psychiatric intensive care units (PICUs), and rehabilitation flats. The site supports men and women with complex Mental Health needs, Personality Disorders, Learning Disabilities, and Autism—often with histories of offending or previous placement challenges. Location: Crookham Hill, Thatcham, Berkshire, RG19 8ET.
