FULL DESCRIPTION

Senior Quantity Surveyor

Location: London
Salary: £70,000 - £95,000

The Role

As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take full commercial responsibility for your projects, working closely with the Commercial Manager, Project Managers, and wider delivery team to ensure successful financial outcomes. The role involves managing costs, procurement, and contractual matters across multiple projects, ensuring value is maximised and risks are effectively controlled.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all commercial aspects of projects from handover through to final account
  • Manage subcontract procurement including tender packages, analysis, and appointments
  • Oversee cost planning, budgeting, and ongoing financial reporting (CVRs)
  • Prepare, negotiate, and agree interim valuations, variations, and final accounts
  • Carry out measurement from drawings and on site where required
  • Administer contracts (JCT Design & Build) and manage contractual obligations
  • Ensure effective cost control and value engineering throughout project lifecycle
  • Manage subcontractor and client payment processes
  • Maintain and develop strong supply chain relationships
  • Prepare and manage project cashflow forecasts
  • Attend project meetings, leading on all commercial matters
  • Mentor and support junior members of the commercial team

Requirements

  • Minimum 5+ years' post-graduate experience within a main contractor environment (D&B preferred)
  • Strong understanding of JCT Design & Build contracts
  • Proven track record managing project costs and delivering commercial success
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills
  • Commercially astute with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Degree or HND in Quantity Surveying (or similar) preferred
  • IT literate (Microsoft Office; AutoCAD beneficial)
  • Flexible to travel to UK sites on a regular basis
  • Must have the right to work in the UK
