R&D Manager (Embedded Software)

[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is a world-leading manufacturer of electronic security equipment. We are seeking an R&D Manager (Embedded Software) to join our team in Rotherham, South Yorkshire.

The Role

Reporting to the R&D Director with responsibility for the management and development of products within our Panel domain. These are typically focused on embedded firmware, although some projects also have related application software, new/updated hardware and in some cases, a mechanical aspect (metal/plastic enclosures). You will also be responsible for associated peripherals including, but not limited to, keypads and expanders.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure project management process is followed for all projects.
  • Collate information from all relevant functions and present projects at tollgates to the management team.
  • Own the project plan; starting with baseline pre-development and maintain during the development and validation phases.
  • Ensure smooth handover of projects to the implementation team in order to introduce products into production.
  • Maintain resource plans to enable scheduling of future roadmap developments.

Key Skills/Experience

Essential:

  • Suitably qualified and experienced from a similar industry background.
  • Several years Project Management experience.
  • Exposure to structured project management methodology.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Line management experience & Stakeholder management.

Desirable:

  • PRINCE2.
  • Technical background (hardware, embedded firmware, software, mechanical).
  • Knowledge of embedded software products.
  • Automated testing.
  • This role has a bilingual requirement. Fluent English and Mandarin.
