About the role
This is a full-time temporary contract for 6 months, based at HMP Wormwood Scrubs. This is a senior-level opportunity within the [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal], offering the chance to lead a team, support operational delivery, and contribute directly to public protection and reducing reoffending within a custodial environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Managing a team to deliver effective Offender Management and achieve high standards of public protection
- Providing day-to-day leadership, performance management, and support to staff
- Ensuring effective allocation, monitoring, and completion of work within the team
- Contributing to multi-agency public protection arrangements and partnership working
- Reviewing casework and providing feedback to maintain quality and compliance
- Supporting change management initiatives and driving improvements in quality and efficiency
- Ensuring implementation of policies, procedures, and National Standards
- Maintaining accurate records using NDelius and OASys
- Promoting and ensuring compliance with Health & Safety policies
- Building and maintaining effective relationships with internal teams and external agencies
- Championing equality, diversity, and inclusion
- Supporting the wider operational objectives of the [Employer hidden]
- Undertaking additional duties appropriate to the role as required
Person Specification
- A recognised Probation Officer qualification (PQF Graduate Diploma/ Honours Degree in Community Justice with Level 5 Diploma in Probation Practice, or equivalent recognised qualification)
- Experience working within a recognised provider of probation services within the last 5 years
- Management experience, including day-to-day staff and performance management
- Experience contributing to public protection through multi-agency working and case review
- Experience of managing or supporting change and improving service delivery
- Strong knowledge of offender management, risk assessment, and public protection frameworks
- Experience using NDelius and OASys systems
- Understanding of Health & Safety legislation in the workplace
- Knowledge of victim engagement considerations
- Strong organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across agencies
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends
- Strong knowledge of the Criminal Justice System, [Employer hidden], legislation, and National Standards
