Be part of something greater. Job reference: SDX/TP/2224383/154296/SJS2. Location: HMP Addiewell, 9 Station Road, West Calder. Job type: Full Time - 37.5 hours per week. Salary: £37,000 - £39,000 per annum.

About the role

We are looking for a skilled and reliable Maintenance Plumber to join our Facilities Management team at HMP Addiewell. You will provide a professional, first-class service across the prison estate, ensuring all mechanical and water systems are maintained to the highest standards. In this role, you will support the FM team with day-to-day maintenance tasks, manage reactive work via Global Maximo, and help ensure the estate meets statutory requirements while maintaining health and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out repairs and preventative maintenance to all mechanical and water systems.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance work and report any defects or issues.
  • Perform duties as an Authorised Person (Water) when required.
  • Escort and assist specialist contractors, working alongside them as necessary.
  • Respond to out-of-hours call-outs on a rotational “On Call” system.
  • Ensure all work meets trade standards and complies with health, safety, and environmental policies.
  • Treat all staff and visitors professionally and report any security breaches.

Person Specification

  • Completed a recognised Mechanical/Water apprenticeship with NVQ Level 3 Plumbing qualification.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team, delivering high-quality work without constant supervision.
  • Proactive and systematic approach to tasks, with strong organisational skills.
  • Positive attitude towards health and safety and a commitment to following procedures.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage priorities effectively.
