About the Role

Join [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] as a Cook at our Wharflane House Bail Hostel 34 Rectory Rd, Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent ST1 4PW site. In this essential lone-working role, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking high-quality meals for the residents and staff in a fixed location, ensuring safe, nutritious, and welcoming environments.

What You’ll Do

  • Independently prepare and cook a variety of meals according to scheduled menus for residents and staff.
  • Manage your own schedule and kitchen operations, ensuring meals are prepared and served on time with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain high standards of food safety, cleanliness, and hygiene in all areas, including the kitchen and dining spaces.
  • Restock essential kitchen supplies like ingredients, utensils, and cleaning products.
  • Communicate with site staff and other departments as needed, providing updates and ensuring smooth operations.
  • Adhere to health and safety protocols at all times, ensuring compliance while working alone.

What You Bring

  • Previous experience in a cooking or catering role is essential, along with a reasonable knowledge of food safety and kitchen procedures.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to work independently.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage time and tasks efficiently while working alone.
  • The ability to remain self-motivated and proactive when working without direct supervision.
  • A positive, independent, and team-oriented attitude, with a willingness to follow direction when needed.
