About the role

Position: Cook/Chef at [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal], RAF Brize Norton, Carterton, OX18 3LX.

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Catering Chef / Cook to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, cooking, and serving high-quality food in line with company processes, systems, and hygiene standards.

You will follow approved recipe cards and menu cycles to ensure consistency, quality, and portion control, while supporting a smooth and efficient catering service in collaboration with Service Catering Personnel (SCP).

This role requires strong attention to detail, compliance with food safety and health & safety regulations, and effective use of digital systems to support a modern catering operation.

What you’ll do

  • Prepare, cook, and serve food in line with approved recipes, menu cycles, and company standards
  • Maintain high standards of quality, presentation, portion control, and food safety at all times
  • Monitor and record food waste and temperatures in line with compliance requirements
  • Ensure a clean, safe, and compliant kitchen environment
  • Use digital systems effectively to support service delivery
  • Follow correct procedures for ordering, receiving, storing, and handling food items
  • Complete opening, closing, and handover procedures as required
  • Maintain professional relationships with customers and colleagues
  • Attend required training, meetings, and briefings
  • Report hazards, incidents, or equipment faults promptly
  • Work across all areas of the site as directed by management

What we’re looking for

Essential

  • Experience in a similar role within the service industry at a comparable level
  • One of the following qualifications (or equivalent): BSc (Catering), MHCIM, HND, City & Guilds 706/1 and 2, NVQ Level 2 or 3
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standards precisely

Desirable

  • Experience working within a military environment
  • IOSH qualification (or equivalent)
  • Experience in a customer-facing role
  • CIEH Level 2 qualification (or equivalent)
