Café Assistant

About the role

The Sael SPA Café Assistant is responsible for delivering a welcoming, efficient, and high-quality café experience for spa guests. This role focuses on preparing and serving coffee, matcha, smoothies, and light wellness-focused beverages, while maintaining excellent service standards and a calm, premium environment aligned with the Sael SPA concept. The Café Assistant will support the day-to-day café operation, ensuring cleanliness, product quality, and a positive guest experience at all times.

What you'll do

• Prepare and serve a range of beverages including coffee, matcha, teas, smoothies, and wellness drinks.
• Operate coffee equipment (barista machine and/or Nespresso where applicable) to a good standard.
• Ensure consistent quality, presentation, and speed of service.
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the café, equipment, and service areas at all times.
• Support with basic food preparation if required (e.g. simple grab-and-go items).
• Deliver friendly, attentive, and professional service to all spa guests.
• Create a calm, relaxed, and premium environment in line with the SPA experience.
• Engage with guests to explain products and make recommendations (e.g. matcha, collagen drinks, smoothies).
• Handle basic guest queries and feedback in a positive and helpful manner.
• Prepare coffee drinks with correct basic techniques (espresso, milk steaming, simple latte art preferred but not essential).
• Build knowledge of wellness products such as matcha, protein shakes, collagen drinks, and low/no sugar options.
• Follow recipes and preparation guidelines to ensure consistency.
• Assist with stock rotation, restocking, and basic inventory checks.
• Ensure all products are stored correctly and within date.
• Follow all food safety, hygiene, and health & safety standards.
• Deliver a consistently high-quality and efficient café service.
• Maintain a clean, organised, and welcoming café environment.
• Ensure drinks are prepared accurately and to standard.
• Contribute to a positive and relaxing guest experience within the SPA.

What you'll bring

• Previous experience in a café, coffee shop, or hospitality environment preferred.
• Basic barista knowledge is desirable but not essential (training can be provided).
• Interest in coffee, wellness products, and healthy lifestyle trends.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced but calm and professional environment.
• Strong attention to cleanliness and detail.
• Friendly, positive, and approachable.
• Reliable and punctual.
• Team player with a proactive attitude.
• Flexible to work shifts including weekends and busy periods.
