About the role

Join the dedicated Domestic Services team at Manchester Central Hospital, where you will play a vital leadership role in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene across our hospital. As a key member of the supervisory team, you will oversee daily operations within wards, departments, and public areas, ensuring that all cleaning services are delivered efficiently, effectively, and in strict accordance with contractual specifications. Your expertise in managing domestic services will be instrumental in creating a safe, sterile, and welcoming environment for patients, staff, and visitors alike. We are seeking proactive, detail oriented professionals with strong leadership skills and a commitment to excellence to help us uphold our reputation for outstanding patient care and infection control.

What You’ll Do

  • Supervise and coordinate domestic staff to maintain high cleaning standards according to work schedules and procedures.
  • Allocate work, monitor all areas regularly, and take appropriate action to address standards that do not meet requirements.
  • Ensure all domestic staff are properly trained, wearing full PPE and uniforms, and adhere to health and safety regulations.
  • Build effective relationships with ward staff and team members, facilitating communication and resolving issues promptly.
  • Manage staff scheduling, annual leave requests, sickness absences, and conduct regular performance appraisals.
  • Report maintenance defects, incidents, and complaints, ensuring proper documentation and escalation when necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with COSHH regulations, health and safety legislation, and hospital policies.
  • Provide on the spot support, cover for colleagues when required, and undertake full domestic duties as needed.

What You’ll Bring

  • Good communication skills to enable communication with colleagues, patients and clients regarding on job duties.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Good level of customer care.
  • Experience of working in a domestic environment (desirable).
  • Good understanding of health and safety and manual handling practices.
  • Ability to respond constructively and professionally to unpredictable situations.
  • Attend mandatory induction and health and safety related training and all other required training.
