Personal Advisor (Care Experienced) (Integrated Looked After Children Service, Leaving Care Team) – £33,699 pa – Fixed Term contract for 3 Years
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a care experienced personal advisor to be part of our leaving care team, following the successful progression of previous post holder. Following a successful focussed Ofsted visit in March 2022 to the integrated team, the inspection highlighted that workers are dedicated and committed and are clearly proud of our young people and that most young people supported by the service have long lasting, trusting relationships with PA’s and support is tailored to young people’s individual needs and wishes.
As part of [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal]'s drive for continuous improvement and building upon the success of the Ofsted visit we are looking for an enthusiastic, positive person to work alongside our existing staff of Personal Advisor’s within the Leaving Care Team as part of the Integrated Children Looked After Service.
This is an exciting time to work for [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] where there is a real commitment and passion in delivering outstanding services to care leavers. Through a culture of innovation and DFE funding we have been successful in securing the resources to further bolster and develop our offer to young people via an enhanced staying close model and framework.
This role would support the success of the staying close model and add unique diversity to an already well-resourced and experienced team. The successful applicant will support practice development in the service and partnership, to achieve sustainable change. Young people tell us they value the relationship with their PA and that more support at specific times is valuable. We can extend the capacity of our Leaving Care team and enrich our practice through this role. You will bring unique lived experience to the role and identity to the team that will add value to the commitment and adherence to the Staying Close model and framework. This role will be highly influential in ensuring practice development and long-term sustainability. We are looking for someone with lived care experience and whom will have the commitment, understanding and skill to undertake this important role.
The role will provide support and interventions to young people in, or leaving care age 16-25. The personal advisor will be the key professional for young people over 18, carrying out assessment of need and providing practical and emotional support based on the assessment and subsequent co-developed pathway plan. The role will also provide support and intervention to young people requiring a service in line with the Southwark judgement.
You will fulfil the role and responsibilities of Personal Advisor to young people over the age of 18 that have left care as well as building relationships and offering support to young people who are age 16 and 17.
We anticipate a longer induction period allowing for shadowing and build of knowledge skills and experience alongside other PA’s but as a personal advisor you will also in time work independently, providing direct support and interventions to young people under direction and support of the Assistant Team Manager or Practice Manager. You will also have access to practice guidance and support from your experienced personal advisor colleagues, social workers and senior colleagues.
As we are committed to enhancing the service and offer to young people, the role will require a flexible approach to providing support to young people outside of office hours as required.
We welcome an informal discussion if you would like to know more about the team and our service. To arrange an informal discussion, please contact managers, Mark Basley ([Employer hidden — sign up to reveal]), or Daniel O’Callaghan ([Employer hidden — sign up to reveal]).
We offer an excellent benefits package and further information is available here – [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal].
[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. We expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment and an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) disclosure will be sought along with other relevant pre-employment checks.
