About the Role
Building on the successful introduction of the Corporate Programme Management Office (CPMO) in 2022, you will:
- Lead and further embed the CPMO as a centre of excellence;
- Provide independent challenge, assurance and insight across the Council’s most significant programmes and projects with the necessary rigour, grip and pace;
- Oversee delivery of the Council Transformation Programme and major reform initiatives as well as implementation of the Transformation Programme Review;
- Work closely with Senior Officers, Elected Members and Partners, influencing decisions at the highest level;
- Ensure strong governance, clear reporting, effective risk management and grip and rigour on delivery;
- Champion best practice in programme and project management, supporting a positive culture of learning rather than blame;
- Contribute to shaping how we work as an organisation — not just what we deliver;
Who We’re Looking For
We’re seeking a confident, credible programme leader who brings:
- Significant experience delivering complex, strategic programmes;
- Strong knowledge of programme and project management frameworks;
- The ability to operate effectively in a political and senior leadership environment;
- Excellent communication, analytical and influencing skills;
- A calm, resilient and solutions-focused approach to change;
- A strong organisational mindset and commitment to collaborative working.
