Job Overview
[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] seeks an enthusiastic and inspirational Teacher of English and EAL. The successful candidate will be a dynamic classroom practitioner with an energetic and forward-thinking approach to teaching up to and including GCSE, A Level and English. With a number of international pupils for whom English is their second language, the ability to teach English as an Additional Language is an advantage. A willingness to contribute fully to the Department while also adding to the extra-curricular and pastoral life of a busy boarding school is essential. Purpose of the Job
To play a key part in the delivery of the highest standards of pupil learning and teaching, and of achievement, in both the Skills and English Departments, as needed. They will also be required to play an active role pastorally and in the extra-curricular activities run by the department and/or elsewhere in the school.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- To promote the aims of the School at all times with colleagues, parents, pupils and the public
- To play a full part in a seven day a week boarding School during term time, with commitment to teaching, pastoral care, extra-curricular activities and School duties.
- To assist in the recruitment of pupils and to promote the School and Department.
- To provide professional, high-quality teaching, with the effective use of appropriate resources to ensure the highest standards of learning and achievement of all pupils.
- To attend all appropriate Health & Safety (COSHH) and Child Protection training related to the pupils, School and Department.
Person Specification
Essential qualifications include an Honours degree (or equivalent), experience in teaching EAL qualifications, and experience in teaching GCSE English Language and Literature. Desirable: Post Graduate Certificate in Education. The successful candidate must demonstrate an ability to motivate, enthuse and influence, a commitment to safeguard and promote the welfare of children, and a willingness to participate fully in pastoral care, School duties and extra-curricular activities.
