Catering Assistant
We are looking for three Catering Assistants to join our excellent catering team at [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] (SVS). The roles involve supporting the catering operation across two campuses for pupils and staff. The rate of pay is £12.50 per hour with Saturdays paid at time and a half. Apply by 6th March 2026.
Vacancies
- Vacancy One - Catering Assistant: 9:00am - 3:30pm Monday to Friday, term time only, temporary from 20th April 2026 to January 2027.
- Vacancy Two - Catering Assistant/Store Person: 6:30am - 3:00pm (Mon/Wed/Fri start 6:30am; Tue/Thu start 7:30am) Monday to Friday, permanent, ASAP start.
- Vacancy Three - Saturday Morning Catering Assistant/Breakfast Cook: 7:00am - 3:00pm Saturday, permanent, approximately 25 Saturdays per year, with other shifts available.
The Role
- Assist with basic food preparation, including beverages;
- Prepare serveries and dining area for service, and serve as required;
- Washing up, clearing tables, work surfaces, general cleaning of kitchen/dining areas, including emptying bins;
- Assist with checking-in and storing of supplies;
- Keep HACCP records, such as for refrigerators and food temperatures;
- Ensure high standards of cleanliness in work areas, refectory, dining areas and meeting rooms;
- Provide prompt and efficient service to pupils, staff, guests and visitors;
- Perform all tasks to the highest required hygiene standards.
Person Specification
- Customer focused with excellent customer service skills;
- Can-do attitude and flexible to sudden changes;
- Previous catering experience desirable but not essential (training provided);
- Good organisational and time-keeping skills;
- Enjoy working with people and good communicator;
- Good at multitasking;
- High standards of work and personal presentation;
- Team player, reliable and trustworthy.
