Head of Academy Goalkeeping

About the Role
To manage, coach and develop the goalkeepers within the professional development phase (PDP) of the Academy (U16, U18s and U23s) to provide a pathway of progression into the first team.
Core Duties
- Plan, prepare, deliver and review the PDP coaching and games programme aligned with the Coaching Syllabus of the Academy and the 'Vision and Values' of the club
- Coach and support the match / training programme of the PDP where required
- Oversee the Goalkeeping Curriculum within the Academy from U9 to U23
- Manage and work with the Goalkeeper coaches to plan, deliver and evaluate every coaching session in accordance with the Club Philosophy, Coaching Plan and Coach Competency Framework
- Liaise with the senior coaching staff of the club regarding the PDP coaching and games programme
- Supervise and assist in the delivery of coaching sessions to players throughout the Academy
- Ensure Academy goalkeepers are fully prepared for games and undergo robust review procedures
- Contribute to parents' evenings and maintain relationships with players and parents
- Liaise with multi-disciplinary staff to ensure holistic player development
- Keep Performance Management Application (PMA) up to date per EPPP guidelines
- Attend and lead goalkeeping in-service CPD events
- Contribute to Academy Management Team meetings and Technical Board Meetings
- Manage and embed football philosophy through monitoring of Playing Principles
- Plan, prepare and deliver 6-week Individual Player Review Meetings
- Improve skills through DAP and Academy CCF
- Liaise with Head of Recruitment/Talent ID for player signposting and trials
Person Specification
Essential
- UEFA A Goalkeeping Coaching Certificate
- Safeguarding Certificate
- Emergency First Aid in Football Certificate
- Ability to plan, deliver, develop, and monitor football coaching sessions
- Ability to effectively manage player, parent and staff relationships
- Ability to liaise professionally with football players, coaches, management
- Enthusiastic and passionate about football and youth development
- Basic level of IT competency
- Confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills
- Flexible attitude to working pattern and hours
- Able to hold difficult conversations and remain calm
- Good planning, preparation, and management skills
- Experience of working to stringent deadlines
Desirable
- UEFA A Licence Coaching Certificate
- FA Advanced Youth Award
- Previous experience working in elite football within the first team
- Previous experience of leading a SPDP / PDP age groups within a professional academy
- Full driving licence
