FULL DESCRIPTION

Designated Safeguarding Officer

[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is seeking a Designated Safeguarding Officer to lead the safeguarding function. Location: Liberty Stadium, Swansea SA1. Remuneration dependent on experience. Permanent, 40 hours per week.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership on safeguarding provision and issues within the Club.
  • Review and approve safeguarding provisions for all activities.
  • Ensure strict compliance with the Club's policies and procedures for safeguarding Children and Adults at risk.
  • Ensure all policies and procedures are signed off by the Board annually or when required.
  • Report regularly on compliance to the Senior Safeguarding Manager/Board.
  • Provide written instructions to staff on good practice and abuse detection.
  • Conduct and manage the DBS process.
  • Comply with EFL Safeguarding Standards.
  • Act as lead Club Official in investigations of abuse allegations.
  • Maintain the single central record for the Club.
  • Be responsible for maintaining electronic records of allegations.
  • Provide guidance and support to staff reporting concerns.
  • Liaise with local authorities and the League on safeguarding issues.
  • Represent the Club at external safeguarding meetings.
  • Promote awareness and best practice in safeguarding.
  • Be available to staff, children, and adults at risk.
  • Ensure all employees are aware of their safeguarding responsibilities and receive adequate training.
  • Appoint dedicated Safeguarding Officers and develop a Safeguarding Working Group.
  • Provide training to Safeguarding Officers.
  • Follow all Club policies (Equality & Diversity, Health & Safety, Safeguarding, Anti-Corruption & Bribery, GDPR).

Person Specification - Essential

  • Experienced safeguarding officer with comprehensive understanding of safeguarding policy and legislation.
  • Sound understanding of Modern Slavery, PREVENT and Equality, Inclusion & Diversity.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience of writing and implementing policy.
  • Previous experience of case management and conducting investigations.
  • Previous experience delivering safeguarding training.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in sensitive situations.
