We are looking for a Salaried GP to join our friendly and dynamic team. You must be fully qualified GP with GMC registration and inclusion on the NHS Performers List. Be committed to delivering patient-focused care with a collaborative approach. Have a keen interest in contributing to practice innovation and development. Have excellent communication and organizational skills. We offer flexible working arrangements with a choice of 10-15 minute appointments with capped patient numbers per session. We are a training practice with the opportunity to mentor and supervise. Opportunity for career progression. Indemnity covered by the practice. 6 weeks annual leave and 1 week study leave.

Main Duties of the Job

  • Direct clinical care – consulting with patients (face-to-face, telephone and/or online), assessing, diagnosing, managing acute illness and long-term conditions, providing health advice, home visits, making referrals.
  • Indirect clinical care – reviewing test results, processing clinical correspondence, completing referrals, fit notes, managing repeat prescribing and medication reviews, handling clinical tasks and record-keeping.
  • Clinical governance, quality and safety – participating in Significant Event Analyses, audit and quality improvement, supporting safe systems, engaging with infection prevention and control, responding to safety alerts.

Job Responsibilities

The following are the core responsibilities of the Salaried GP in delivering health services:

  • Delivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled population.
  • Provision of services commensurate with the primary care contract.
  • Clinically examine and assess patient needs, plan clinical care accordingly, refer to other services.
  • Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance.
  • Prioritise health problems and intervene appropriately in complex, urgent or emergency situations.
  • Effective management of long-term conditions.
  • Support patients to adopt health promotion strategies and apply principles of self-care.
  • Processing of administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescription requests.
  • Review of medications following appropriate policies and guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice.
  • Work collaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload.
  • Adhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and audit process.
  • Support delivery of anticipatory care plans.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and quality initiatives.
  • Accept delegated responsibility for specific area or QOF.
  • Attend and contribute effectively to practice meetings.
  • Contribute to development and maintenance of practice including clinical governance and training.
  • Be aware of duties regarding current legislation and adhere to safeguarding policies.
  • Ensure compliance with appraisal process.
  • Prepare and complete revalidation process to remain fit to practice.
  • Commit to self-learning and continuing professional development.
  • Review and adhere to practice protocols and policies.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Qualified GP (Essential)
  • MRCGP (Essential)
  • Vocational Training Certificate or equivalent JCPTGP (Essential)
  • Certificate of Completion of Training - CCT (Essential)

Experience

  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of multi-disciplinary team (Essential)
  • Experience in primary care environment (Essential)
  • Experience of home visits (Essential)
  • General understanding of primary care contract (Essential)
  • Proven ability to evaluate safety and effectiveness of own clinical practice (Essential)
  • Minimum of two years as salaried GP (Desirable)
  • Appreciation of NHS landscape and relationships (Desirable)
