Targeted Tutor

[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is seeking a Targeted Tutor to deliver secondary education programmes in schools across Merseyside. The role involves planning and delivering sessions, managing challenging behaviour, and supporting vulnerable young people aged 11-18. Must have a full UK driving licence and experience in classroom teaching. 12-month fixed term contract, full-time, based at Goodison Park and schools.

About the opportunity

Our Children and Youth Services aim to support children and young people aged 2 to 25 who are at high risk and facing vulnerability. The Targeted Tutor will deliver and demonstrate the impact of our funded Secondary Education programmes within schools, working closely with the Secondary Education Senior Coordinator.

Key responsibilities

  • Planning and delivering sessions, ensuring they meet the goals and objectives in line with funding obligations and the needs of our participants.
  • Complying with all relevant policies, procedures, training and regulations; maintaining a safe environment and risk assessment processes.
  • Developing and maintaining positive relationships through effective communication with participants, colleagues, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Understanding and implementing the Club’s Safeguarding policy and best practice guidelines.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for an individual who has experience of working with young people who display challenging behaviour and who is knowledgeable in the delivery of different learning styles. Our successful candidate will also demonstrate:

  • Full clean UK Driving Licence
  • Experience of developing session plans and schemes of work
  • Experience of delivering classroom-based sessions to 11–18-year-olds
  • Experience of managing challenging student behaviours
  • Fully IT literate with ability to use MS Office packages
  • Creative presentation skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences

Additional details

Closing date: Tuesday 19th May 2026. This position will be offered on a 12 Month Fixed Term Contract, 35 hours per week, based at Goodison Park and schools across targeted areas.
