Main Duties
The Senior Therapist provides, develops and delivers specialised Occupational Therapy/Physiotherapy intervention to emergency and assessment units across a 7-day service. Patients include complex multipathologies from medical, surgical and orthopaedic conditions. The team aims for rapid assessment and timely discharges, avoiding admission and reducing readmission rates.

Job Responsibilities
- Assist with development of therapy services
- Hold responsibility for own caseload, working without direct supervision
- Work contracted hours over 7 days a week
- Undertake all clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner
- Chair team meetings, manage annual leave and sickness
- Work within CSP/RCOT standards and participate in audits
- Maintain current knowledge of evidence-based practice
Person Specification - Qualifications
Essential
- State Registered HCPC
- Diploma/Degree in Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy
- Evidence of postgraduate learning relevant to clinical area
- Evidence of continuing Professional Development
Desirable
- Evidence of basic management training
- Member of special interest group
Person Specification - Experience
Essential
- Experience in complex discharge planning within the NHS
- Working as part of an MDT and joint problem solving
- Supervision and training of others
- Broad clinical experience (surgical, ED, neurology, medical, orthopaedic, hand injuries, rehabilitation)
- Experience of providing interventions for a complex caseload
Desirable
- Experience in orthopaedics, community, intermediate care, acute inpatients, rapid response
- Experience of splints and braces
- Respiratory care and on-call service (Physio only)
- Involvement in audits
- Participation in service development and change implementation
