Clinical Fellow ST1/2/3 in Intensive care

The unit is a 12-bed combined ICU/HDU with modern equipment. Duties include daily patient review, consultant-led ward rounds, medical emergency team response, and admission management. Out-of-hours work on a full shift rota with additional payments.

Job Summary

The unit operates as a combined ICU/HDU with 12 beds, all in individual side-rooms equipped for ICU care. The unit is equipped with modern multifunctional monitoring and state-of-the-art ventilators. Procedures include mechanical ventilation, percutaneous tracheostomy, cardiac output monitoring, non-invasive ventilation, and haemofiltration. An integrated critical care information system (CIS) has been installed. The unit participates in the ICNARC case mix programme and has a Matron-led Outreach Team.

Main Duties

In-hours duties: Part of the multi-disciplinary team providing care, support, and rehabilitation of critically ill patients. Daily review of all patients followed by a consultant-led ward round. Part of the medical emergency team (MET) responding to emergencies. Take referrals from ED and hospital. Responsible for admission and management with consultant support.

Out-of-hours duties: Participate in full shift rota with additional payments.

Person Specification

  • Essential Qualifications: Fully registered with GMC, MBBS or equivalent
  • Desirable: MRCP (UK) Part 1
  • Essential Experience: Previous appropriate clinical exposure
