The Role

We currently seek to appoint a well-qualified, ambitious and experienced Teacher or current Head of Department to join the school from September 2025 in the role of Head of Chemistry. The Head of Chemistry leads and manages a highly qualified and experienced department of nine. The successful candidate will be able to develop further the use of teaching strategies which encourage a deep and scholarly engagement with the subject whilst focusing on excellent levels of achievement in all sections of the school. They will be an inspirational teacher and will demonstrate high levels of commitment to the development of Chemistry at [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal], including engaging with the whole school enthusiasm for evidence-informed teaching and learning.

About the Department

Subjects within the large and thriving Science Faculty are extremely popular. Taught by specialist teachers and supported by dedicated technical staff, a range of new technologies is used in a modern suite of well-equipped classrooms and laboratories to facilitate effective learning. High importance is placed on hands-on practical work and we currently teach Edexcel Chemistry at A Level and IGCSE Edexcel at GCSE. Chemistry is also very popular within the IB programme.

Extra-curricular

All members of the department play a role in the extensive extra-curricular life of the Science faculty and our students enjoy participating in a wide range of additional activities, in a stimulating and fun learning environment. All staff are expected to contribute to the thriving extra-curricular programme on offer at the School.

Salary and Benefits

The salary will be commensurate with the post and will depend upon qualifications and experience. Accommodation may be available for new staff in a local six-unit property.
