Electrical Operations Engineer
[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is hiring an Electrical Operations Engineer to join their Operations & Asset Management team in North Scotland (Wick/Inverness). The role involves overseeing day-to-day operation of renewable energy sites, reviewing safe systems of work, managing maintenance schedules, and supporting HV/LV electrical systems. The role is hybrid, home-based with field work, and requires an HNC in engineering, hands-on electro-mechanical experience, and a full UK driving licence.
What you’ll be doing:
- Overseeing the day-to-day operation of renewable energy sites
- Reviewing and approving contractor Safe Systems of Work (SSOW) and ensuring compliance with safety requirements
- Inducting and verifying competency of all site personnel
- Developing risk assessments and SSOW for site activities
- Recording, reporting, and following up on incidents and near misses
- Planning and managing preventative maintenance schedules
- Conducting routine site inspections and producing reports
- Maintaining essential site documentation (H&S plans, environmental plans, O&M manuals, as-built drawings, etc.)
- Operating and maintaining HV and LV electrical systems, managing permits, and liaising with network operators
- Supporting integration of new assets into operations
- Participating in the on-call rota for 24/7 operational support
What you’ll bring:
- HNC (or equivalent) in an engineering/technical discipline
- Hands-on experience in maintenance, fault finding, or repair of electro-mechanical systems
- Knowledge of HV/LV electrical systems and Health & Safety legislation
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently
- Full UK driving licence
Nice to have:
- IOSH/NEBOSH qualification
- Renewables sector experience
- Familiarity with wind turbine technology and operations
