We have a significant special educational need's profile (49% SEN; 12% with EHCPs). Current priorities include developing a culture of relational practice, embedding foundational knowledge for reading, writing and maths, and deepening spirituality within the curriculum.
About the role
This is a non-class based Deputy Headteacher role with designated responsibility for leading and managing SEND across the school. Key responsibilities include:
- Strategic leadership for teaching, learning and whole-school improvement
- Leading the school’s SEND provision: operational oversight of the SEND policy, EHCP processes, interventions and statutory compliance
- Supporting and line managing staff, including staff development and performance management
- Proactive role in school self-evaluation, monitoring and raising standards across the curriculum
- Leading on safeguarding, behaviour, inclusion and the day-to-day wellbeing of pupils
- Acting as Headteacher in their absence when required
About you — the ideal candidate
- Qualified teacher with evidence of successful middle/senior leadership
- NASENCO or NPQSEN (or willingness to achieve within two years) with strong knowledge of SEND Code of Practice, EHCP processes and effective interventions
- Proven classroom practitioner who can model excellent teaching and support colleagues
- Skilled in building positive relationships with pupils, families, staff and external agencies
- Highly organised, resilient and solution-focused
- Committed to safeguarding and to creating a nurturing, inclusive environment
