About the Role

The [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is seeking an enthusiastic and committed Deputy Headteacher to join the friendly team at English Martyrs' RC Primary School. The successful candidate will be a practising Catholic with strong faith, dedicated to providing an outstanding Catholic education. The role involves assisting the Headteacher in managing the school, leading curriculum development, managing staff, and fostering relationships with the parish and community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Class teacher responsibilities including planning, teaching, and covering for absent teachers.
  • Internal organisation, management and control of the school, including fulfilling the Mission Statement and maintaining Catholic ethos.
  • Curriculum development, assessment, and ensuring continuity of learning.
  • Pupil care, pastoral support, and discipline in line with Catholic teachings.
  • Staff management, selection, deployment, appraisal, and professional development.
  • Resource management, including financial and material resources, and health and safety.
  • Liaison with governors, Diocese, [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal], parents, and external agencies.

Person Specification

Essential criteria include: practising Catholic, qualified teacher status, degree, CCRS/CTC or commitment to obtaining, substantial senior leadership experience, successful teaching in primary phase, excellent communication skills, and commitment to safeguarding. Desirable attributes include involvement in parish community, completion of Catholic Leadership Programme, and financial management experience.
