Youth Specialist (Duke of Edinburgh Awards) - INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY
[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is seeking a Youth Specialist to support DofE Centres. This is a temporary part-time role (4 hours/week) with hybrid working. Salary: £36,735 - £41,078 per year pro rata.
Vacancy Information
The salary advertised is full time (35 hours per week). Part-time hours will be pro-rated accordingly. Hourly rate of pay: £20.13 - £22.51. Temporary for 6 months. Days and hours negotiable. Flexi time applicable. To start asap. The main task is to provide support to the DofE Centres across East Lothian. The post holder will have access to the DofE online system to help support delivery. They will work in partnership with key council departments and external agencies.

Home or hybrid working options can be discussed at interview. All home/hybrid workers must live in the UK. Employees will be expected to attend Council offices for induction and be on site in East Lothian workplaces as required.

Job Details
- Make contact and develop constructive relationships with young people to encourage participation in activities.
- Identify young peoples needs and offer appropriate advice or action.
- Contact hardest to reach young people within their own environment who don't use existing services.
- Better targeting of services and initiatives to those most in need to increase formal opportunities for learning and confidence building.
- Address issues of risky behaviour and support young people at risk.
- Support young people to address issues highlighted by them and develop ideas for social action.

Job Requirements
Relevant Qualifications: A good standard of general education and ability to demonstrate knowledge, skills and competencies gained through relevant experience in a similar role.
PVG Membership: This post is considered a Regulated Role with vulnerable children and/or protected adults under the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020. All preferred candidates must become a PVG Scheme member or undergo an update prior to formal offer. If you have spent more than 3 months working or living out with the UK in the last 5 years, you will need to present an overseas criminal record check.
