P/T Female Support worker Companion - 05/Irvine/CA

[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is advertising this role on behalf of a private individual. The job is for a support worker companion in Irvine, UK. Salary: £14.59 per hour (Living Wage). Hours: 2-5 per week (Thurs & Fri mornings 7:45-8:45, variable weekend hours). Closing Date: 26/06/2026.

Job Purpose

To work closely and flexibly with a young person who has a mild Learning Disability to support her participation in community activities and hobbies.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide morning support for dressing and breakfast on Thurs/Fri.
  • Act as a companion and provide guidance/supervision at weekends.
  • Encourage activities like cinema, gym, shopping, bingo, swimming.
  • Assist with basic computer skills (online shopping, email, driving theory).
  • Accompany on public transport.

Person Specification

Essential Criteria

  • Demonstrable experience supporting people to fulfil their potential.
  • Understanding of empowering support and social inclusion.
  • Good communication, listening, and organisational skills.
  • Computer literate.
  • Full clean UK driving licence with business use insurance.
  • Comfortable around dogs and cats.

Desirable

  • Lived experience of supporting someone as a peer.
  • Experience working in partnership.
  • Person-centred practice knowledge.

Additional Information

The young person prefers someone of similar age (20s-30s) with a good sense of humour, down to earth, and reliable. Fixed term contract for 1 year with 6-month probation.
