Teacher of Mathematics (Full-Time Permanent)

This is a permanent position at [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal], an academically selective voluntary grammar school in Armagh, Northern Ireland.

About the School

Established by Royal Decree in 1608, [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is an academically selective voluntary grammar school for boys and girls aged 4–19, situated 40 miles Southwest of Belfast. The school has 804 pupils, 70 boarders, and a Preparatory Department. It is known for high academic standards and a strong extracurricular programme.

The Position

The Board of Governors seeks to appoint a Teacher of Mathematics to teach up to GCE level. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching, planning engaging lessons, and inspiring pupils to reach their potential. Essential criteria include a 2:2 honours degree in Mathematics or relevant subject, a recognised teaching qualification, and willingness to be involved in wider school life. Desirable criteria include experience teaching Mathematics to Advanced level, Further Maths at GCSE, ability to teach another subject, and extra-curricular commitment.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned classes with preparation and correction.
  • Plan and develop high-quality lessons using varied approaches.
  • Prepare pupils for examinations and assist with administration.
  • Assess, record, and report on pupil progress.
  • Work in partnership with parents, support staff, and other professionals.
  • Contribute to extracurricular activities and the boarding life if applicable.
  • Promote safeguarding and the welfare of children.
