- Responsible to: Head of Safeguarding
- Department: Safe Scouting
- Base location: Gilwell Park, Chingford, London (with hybrid working) 1 day present in office per week; that includes in person Team Meetings/Trainings
- Term: Fixed Term contract for 12 months (Maternity Cover)
- Salary: £35,831.71 per annum, pro rata of £48,235 per annum, Band G, Level 3 inclusive of OLW.
- Hours: 26 hours per week (3.5 days)
- Line management responsibility: Yes
A bit about the role
The UK Safeguarding Team leads the delivery of safeguarding across [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] in the UK and selected overseas branches. The team manages safeguarding and welfare concerns, oversees safe recruitment and volunteer vetting, and ensures safeguarding is embedded throughout all Scouting activities, including major events like the World Scout Jamboree. It operates as a collaborative and supportive team, offering regular supervision, visible leadership, and a culture that is open, inclusive, and focused on continuous improvement. With members from diverse professional backgrounds such as social work, education, law enforcement, and the charity sector, the team brings a broad range of expertise to its work. This diversity, combined with a strong team ethos, supports effective safeguarding practice and ongoing professional development.
