Innovation Team, [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal]

We are looking for a Service Designer to join our Innovation team at [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal].

This is a hybrid working post. You can work from home and from our local office at The Foundry in Larbert.

Who are we?

The Innovation team works across the Council to improve the quality, accessibility, and efficiency of services for residents and staff.

We use service design and technology to:

  • Develop innovative digital solutions that meet business and customer needs
  • Co-design services with users using service design approaches
  • Challenge existing processes and ways of working
  • Embed best practice and drive continuous improvement across services

About the role

As a Service Designer, you will work across a range of Council services to help teams understand user needs and redesign services around them.

You will build strong relationships with service teams and in-house developers to co-design services that are practical, user-focused, and aligned with Council priorities. You will gather and analyse user and service insights, taking a benefits-led approach to identify improvements, efficiencies, and measurable outcomes.

You will often lead the service design phase of projects, planning and managing your own workload and maintaining appropriate project and design documentation. You will also play a key role in promoting collaboration, supporting culture change, and championing user-centred design across the organisation.

About you

You will be an experienced Service Designer, with a degree in an appropriate discipline or equivalent relevant experience.

You will have experience of driving customer-focused change, ideally within a public sector or complex organisational environment, with a strong emphasis on digital transformation.

You will be confident in applying the Scottish Approach to Service Design and in facilitating co-design activities with users and stakeholders.

If you are passionate about improving public services and want to make a real difference to how Council services are designed and delivered, we would love to hear from you.

This is a permanent post. Apply now and join the team.
