About the Role

[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] seeks to appoint a highly motivated and talented professional to lead Killearn Primary School and Nursery. Killearn Primary School and Nursery is situated in the village of Killearn. The nursery is a separate building, still on school grounds. The school currently has a roll of 195 pupils across 9 classes and a nursery with 37 children. Killearn Primary School and Nursery is a thriving learning community where children have every opportunity to develop the four capacities of Curriculum for Excellence through a broad and varied curriculum and a range of extra-curricular opportunities. Learning experiences are motivating and engaging, and outdoor learning is embraced. The school is in the Balfron Learning Community with children transferring to Balfron High School for S1.

Requirements

  • Applicants must have achieved the Standard for Headship or equivalent, awarded by the General Teaching Council for Scotland or have held a permanent appointment as a headteacher of a public school, a grant-aided school or an independent school on or before 1 August 2020 in order to be appointed permanently to this post.
  • Applicants who can demonstrate commitment to and likelihood of achieving this standard within 30 months may be considered for a temporary appointment (of no more than 30 months) while working toward the standard.
  • The successful candidate will be required to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups Scheme (PVG) for Children.
