About the role

At [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal], our retail shops do more than raise vital income – they bring our communities together and help us provide compassionate care to people living with life-limiting illness. We're looking for a Retail Development Manager to play a key role in our retail growth journey, supporting new shop openings, retail events and existing teams to thrive.

Working closely with the Senior Retail Management Team, you'll:

  • Lead the operational delivery of new shop and pop-up shop openings
  • Recruit, induct and support shop staff and volunteers so they feel confident and valued
  • Plan and deliver engaging retail and community events
  • Provide hands-on operational support to shops when needed
  • Build strong relationships across retail, fundraising and community teams
  • Use insight and data to drive improvement and maximise impact

This is a practical, people-centred role where you'll often be 'on the ground', leading by example and living our values every day.

About you

You'll bring:

  • Significant experience in retail management, ideally across multiple sites
  • Proven experience opening and launching new retail locations
  • A collaborative, supportive leadership style
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to juggle priorities
  • A passion for community engagement and purpose-driven retail
  • A full UK driving licence and ability to travel across Birmingham
  • Experience in charity retail or event delivery is welcomed but not essential.

Why join us?

  • Make a real difference through work with purpose
  • Be part of a supportive, values-led organisation
  • Help shape the future of hospice retail in Birmingham
  • Access to learning, development and flexible working
  • Flexible and inclusive ways of working
  • Competitive salary, generous holiday entitlement
  • Wellbeing programmes, Reward Gateway retail discounts & financial tools
