Key Responsibilities

  • Provide project support to the Tourism Business Growth Manager in delivering the Greater Manchester Visitor Economy Accelerator Programme.
  • Assist event delivery by helping organise and run regular networking events and workshops across Greater Manchester.
  • Record programme data by capturing outputs and impacts in line with UKSPF requirements and keeping CRM records accurate and up to date.
  • Maintain stakeholder relationships by engaging with visitor economy partners, attending industry networking sessions and conducting account meetings when needed.
  • Support sector initiatives through contributing to the development and implementation of projects that drive growth in Greater Manchester’s tourism and hospitality sectors.
  • Develop stakeholder relationships by building and maintaining strong working relationships with key contacts across Greater Manchester’s local authorities.

About You

  • Demonstrate relevant experience with at least two years in tourism, business support, events or partnership‑focused roles, while noting that strong candidates with less experience will also be considered.
  • Provide project administration through previous work supporting funded, contracted or target driven programmes.
  • Support programme delivery with proven experience in event coordination, stakeholder engagement and business development activities.
  • Understand the sector by demonstrating good knowledge of the tourism and hospitality industry and the challenges faced by businesses.
  • Build tourism knowledge through familiarity with Manchester’s tourism offer and national tourism structures, alongside a willingness to deepen understanding of Greater Manchester’s visitor economy.
  • Work proactively by taking initiative and approaching tasks with a forward‑thinking mindset.
  • Stay organised with strong organisational abilities and excellent communication skills.
  • Contribute as a team player while also operating confidently as a self‑starter able to work independently when required.

  • Communicate confidently with clear written and verbal skills that engage a wide range of stakeholders, including businesses, partners and internal colleagues.
  • Maintain strong attention to detail when recording data, updating records and meeting the requirements of funded programmes.
  • Plan and organise effectively by managing multiple tasks, priorities and administrative responsibilities with confidence.
  • Use IT systems proficiently with well‑developed digital skills, including CRM platforms, spreadsheets, document management, diary management and email.
  • Support project delivery by coordinating and contributing to the delivery of projects, events and programme activity within agreed plans and timescales.
  • Build strong relationships using strong interpersonal skills to support effective networking and collaborative working.
