Postdoctoral Clinical Fellow – Modeling cryptosporidiosis
[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is offering a research opportunity for a postdoctoral clinical fellow in Adam Sateriale’s lab.
The Project
Our lab studies the intestinal pathogen Cryptosporidium, which is a leading cause of diarrheal disease in children. Despite a significant impact on global health, there are no fully effective treatments for infection and the knowledge base to develop new therapeutics is severely lacking.
To mimic a natural infection, we use intestinal organoids that recapitulate the architecture and cellular diversity in the human gut. We also work with a species of the parasite that is a natural murine pathogen, which allows us to study virulence and immunity in a fully tractable mouse model. Our lab regularly uses super-resolution microscopy, flow-cytometry, CRISPR-mediated genetic manipulation (of parasite and host), and high-throughput sequencing. We have projects that range from basic to translational and welcome new project discussions.
Clinicians that specialize in gastroenterology, pediatrics, or infectious disease are particularly encouraged to reach out to us.
