The Role
Purpose
Would you enjoy teaching the people we support new skills?
Our Nature-Based Therapies and Skills programmes are described in the table. Some participants attend on a day-basis, others reside in homes provided in our communities. The Programme Lead will develop, deliver and assess the effectiveness of the programme, collaborating with other leads across [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] to develop consistent, comprehensive programmes across all ten communities.
Location & Travel
Community-based. This role will be based at our Delrow Community.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop, plan, deliver, assess and support people to participate in activities within Creative Therapies programmes (Supported Creative Arts for Wellbeing).
- Work with other programme leads to curate nature-based programmes.
- Develop comprehensive 13-week programmes of activity designed to support individual participants’ personal goals.
- Document programme plans and keep records of sessions.
- Work with participants to identify individual goals and progression objectives.
- Assess, induct and review support needs, ensuring effective support plans and risk assessments.
- Review participants’ progress and develop seasonal plans.
- Document reflections on effectiveness of activities.
- Create a safe, enabling environment.
- Keep records and collect data to evidence progress.
- Ensure safe practice, dynamic risk assessment, and follow safe operating procedures.
- Identify and report building/equipment issues.
- Assist with recruiting, inducting, and training staff and volunteers.
- Manage and work alongside support workers, carry out regular supervisions.
- Assist with staffing schedules/rotas.
- Conduct regular observations and provide feedback.
- Collect evidence of progression and data for KPIs.
- Build and maintain good relationships with stakeholders.
Person Specification
Education & Qualifications
Essential: Maths and English GCSE Grade C+ (or equivalent).
Desirable: Health & Safety, First Aid, Safeguarding, Care Certificate, NVQ Level 3 Health and Social Care (or willingness to work towards).
Knowledge & Experience
Essential: Minimum 1 year in social care, education or support setting; 1 year line management; experience with Microsoft Office.
Desirable: Experience delivering activity-based group sessions; supporting adults with additional needs; supervision in social care; understanding of therapeutic benefits of nature.
Personal Attributes
Calm, person-oriented approach; honest, dependable; common-sense, mature attitude; strong communication; planning and organisational skills.
Key Competencies
Able to teach arts and crafts (pottery, weaving, painting, etc.) and lead performance-based programmes (drama, music, singing, mindfulness).
