Network Engineer

The role involves incident resolution, changes, upgrades, creating design documentation, automating tasks, and collaborating with teams. Requires 3+ years experience in large-scale enterprise environments, expertise in IP datacentre networking, Nokia and Cisco routers/switches, routing protocols (BGP, MPLS), and desirable knowledge of SDN, Linux, OpenStack, Docker, Kubernetes, monitoring systems.

Responsibilities

  • Support Sky’s Production and Lab Telco Cloud environments, including incident resolution, changes and upgrades.
  • Create and maintain internal design documentation.
  • Use scripting knowledge to automate manual and repetitive tasks.
  • Collaborate with internal teams during application on-boarding.
  • Have excellent problem-solving skills and be able to communicate technical feedback to other members of your team, application owners, and developers.

What you'll bring

Essential:

  • At least 3 years’ experience working in large-scale Enterprise environments.
  • Proven technical background in IP Datacentre networking, both physical infrastructure and SDN.
  • Solid experience of Nokia routers and switches.
  • Strong hands-on and troubleshooting experience of routing and switching on ipv4/v6, MPLS, BGP, QOS, Cisco IOS-XR and Nokia TMOS.
  • Experience with testing methodology.
  • Eager to learn and develop new technologies.
  • Alongside your technical skills, we look for people with a can-do demeanour who are focussed on quality, reliability and collaborative working.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of Nokia's Nuage SDN.
  • Experience with Linux, OpenStack and containerisation: Docker, Kubernetes.
  • Knowledge of the ETSI Mano architectural framework.
  • Experience of modern monitoring and logging systems: Zabbix, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK.
  • Awareness of ISP technologies like DNS, Radius etc and Voice Core technologies like SBC, IMS etc.
