Propulsion-System Architect
[Employer hidden — view at passion-project.co.uk] works with leading OEMs and suppliers in the automotive & transportation industries for R&D, Design and Product Engineering Services, right from architecture to launch and beyond. We bring together technologies that accelerate development & testing of connected autonomous and electric cars & off-highway vehicles.
Key Responsibilities:
- Derive control strategies for the Vehicle Control Unit (VCU), with a focus on Torque Management and Energy Management.
- Translate customer needs and market trends into technical specifications for Chassis features.
- Engage with OEMs to align and finalize system requirements.
- Oversee the development and validation of propulsion control systems.
- Collaborate with engineering, software, vehicle integration, and manufacturing teams to ensure system-level performance and quality.
Required Skill Set:
- In-depth knowledge of propulsion systems in ICE, Hybrid, and Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs).
- Expertise in VCU control strategy development, focusing on Torque and Energy Management across various drive modes.
- Proven ability to optimize control software to balance drivability and NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness) targets.
- Proficient in modeling, simulation, and tuning of control algorithms; experienced in integration and vehicle-level testing.
- Hands-on experience in product development and integration for PHEV/MHEV and BEV propulsion systems.
- Strong analytical skills in evaluating vehicle drive dynamics, stability, and performance through simulation and real-world data.
- Experience with system/vehicle-level dynamometer-based testing.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills; capable of working effectively with cross-functional, geographically distributed teams.
