FULL DESCRIPTION

Trustee Treasurer

[Employer hidden — view at passion-project.co.uk] is seeking a voluntary Trustee Treasurer to join their Board. This role is vital for ensuring the charity remains financially sustainable and well governed.

About St Augustine's Centre

St Augustine's is a highly respected specialist charity working with people seeking asylum, and new refugees, who are rebuilding their lives in Calderdale. We help with advice on immigration and asylum and offer one-on-one support with welfare, housing, health, and access to wider services.

What do trustees do?

Trustees have overall responsibility for the charity, providing strategic leadership, oversight and accountability. The Board sets the charity’s strategic direction, acts as guardian of our vision and values, ensures we meet legal and financial responsibilities, and supports the staff team.

About the Trustee Treasurer role

Our current Trustee Treasurer is stepping down after more than seven years. We are seeking someone with the right skills and experience.

  • Acting as Company Secretary
  • Filing accounts and annual returns to Companies House and the Charity Commission
  • Maintaining bank accounts and mandates
  • Authorising payments and overseeing movement of funds
  • Ensuring compliance with governing documents
  • Supporting the preparation of annual accounts
  • Working with the Director on budgets and forecasts
  • Supporting financial systems (including QuickBooks)

Time commitment

Voluntary role with reasonable expenses paid. 4 Board meetings per year (approx. 2 hours each), preparation time, plus board sub-group meetings. Approximately 8 hours per month. Support available for trustees whose first language is not English.

Safer recruitment

Enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references required. We are committed to equality, diversity and inclusion, and safeguarding.
