This remote, full-time role involves overseeing the day-to-day operations of the maintenance group.

POSITION BACKGROUND

The Operations Manager oversees the day-to-day operations of the maintenance group, providing assistance with issues such as equipment and manpower.

CORE DUTIES

Daily Operation

  • Assist managers with procedures and processes when needed.
  • Help manage daily operations, especially customer service, and make improvements as needed.
  • Ensure the maintenance department is following the [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] operational procedures, policies, and the Loss Prevention Program.
  • Provide knowledge and guidance to Business Development.
  • Relay information to management on department specific issues.
  • Provide information to the department when new procedures or processes are introduced.
  • Fill required paperwork.

Employee Management

  • Coordinate with the Training department for scheduling of new/recertification training.
  • Actively strive to ensure a positive, safe work environment with high employee morale.
  • Approve daily job control sheets and time-off requests.
  • Coordinate with Human Resources to engage in progressive discipline where required.
  • Ensure all [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] work procedures, policies and Occupational Health and Safety regulations are followed.

Other Duties

  • Observe all safety procedures and use proper Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Be considerate of the needs of our community and the environment.
  • Represent [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] in a light that is commensurate with the values of Management and the Corporate Vision and Mission Statements.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

Required

  • Minimum ten years of oilfield, rentals, and/or construction experience.
  • Fluent in the English language (reading, written, spoken).
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence and clean driver’s abstract.
  • Strong business acumen.
  • Ability to deal with the public in a positive, courteous, and respectful manner.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and frequent demanding deadlines.
  • Ability to handle changing schedules and priorities, with high-level prioritization skills.
  • Strong work ethic and organizational planning skills with attention to detail.

Preferred

  • Post-secondary education or trade/technical certificate.
  • Minimum five years [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] experience.
  • Experience and knowledge of [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] equipment (or similar).
  • Intermediate MS Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Management experience in the rental industry.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to stand/sit, talk/hear, use hands/fingers to operate a computer and telephone, stoop, and kneel.
  • Prolonged exposure to computer screens.

Work Environment

  • Office environment (60%), field environment (40%).
  • On call 24/7.
  • May be required to work weekends and outside of regular office hours.
  • May be required to work around mobile equipment.
