Cook Manager

[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is seeking a Cook Manager (Chef Manager) for Trinity Catholic High School (Lower Site), Sydney Road, Woodford Green, Essex, IG8 0TB. This full-time role offers £19.21 per hour, 37.5 hours per week, Monday-Friday, term time only. Key benefits include pension, wellbeing support, and discounts.

About the role

As Chef Manager for [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] at Trinity Catholic High School, you will oversee all aspects of food and beverage operations as well as the finances for your school’s kitchen. You will be responsible for ensuring that the food and level of service are of the highest calibre. You will not work unsociable hours and you will get public holidays off… including Christmas! What you do

  • Manage the replenishment of food and dismantling of work areas at end of service.
  • Develop, mentor, conduct training, and inspire the kitchen team.
  • Control complete catering operation, including labour, food, and stock expenses.
  • Manage and optimise all costs under your control.
  • Ensure uniformity in food and service standards for staff, visitors and students.
  • Manage creation and development of menus.
  • Conduct routine audits to ensure standards are followed.

What you bring

  • Must have expertise in cooking on a large scale (100–1300 students).
  • Experience following recipes, possibly in a similar setting.
  • Previous staff supervision or line management experience.
  • Experience working with fresh produce and ingredients.
  • Awareness of importance of health and safety procedures.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Professional, leading by example with a positive outlook.
  • Hold basic food handling certification: NVQ Level 2 or Level 2 Food Safety Certificate. Minimum 1 year hands-on cooking experience.
