About the Role

We are looking for an intellectually curious and commercially minded R&D Tax Consultant to join our growing team. Whether your background is technical, scientific, or financial, this is an opportunity to make a genuine impact for innovative businesses across the UK.

  • Manage the end-to-end preparation and submission of R&D tax relief claims under the merged R&D scheme and the Enhanced R&D Intensive Support (ERIS) regime
  • Provide technical guidance to clients on the identification and qualification of eligible activities and expenditure in accordance with HMRC guidelines and current legislation
  • Prepare and critically review R&D tax technical reports, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and alignment with HMRC’s published guidance
  • Support clients operating across a range of sectors, including manufacturing, engineering, financial technology, and life sciences, adapting technical approach to sector-specific contexts
  • Manage an allocated client caseload through all stages of the engagement, from initial scoping and technical interviews through to final submission, operating with appropriate supervision from senior members of the team

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required

  • Enthusiastic technologists, able to think on their feet in a client facing role
  • Strong writing skills and able to prepare accurate technical documentation and reports that flow, are grammatically correct and free from spelling mistakes
  • Demonstrate attention to detail and a continuous improvement ethos
  • Working as part of a team, taking ownership and responsibility for quality and timeliness of overall team output
  • Project management and communication to ensure that your individual client engagements are handled efficiently and that the overall team portfolio of clients is managed effectively
  • Ability to identify areas of risk, carry out an effective review and know when to refer upwards
  • Relationship management skills with ability to manage client expectations
  • Experience in R&D tax relief, either from a consultancy, accountancy practice, or an in-house innovation/finance function
  • Ability to understand and articulate technical concepts, whether your grounding is in science, engineering, or finances
  • Data analysis or similar administrative experience
  • Advanced use of Microsoft Office, most notably Excel
  • Experience using Data / client management systems
