Desktop Engineer
[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is looking for a Desktop Engineer to join the Service Delivery team in Glasgow. This is a permanent, full-time hybrid role with a salary of £32,774 - £35,091.
Job Description
[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is Scotland’s national awarding body, designing and delivering trusted qualifications. We are looking for a Desktop Engineer to work within the Service Delivery team. As Desktop Engineer, you will be responsible for providing 1st and 2nd level support for [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal]’s staff with technology and equipment issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1st and second line IT support to users via phone calls, tickets and emails
- Train Service Desk Analysts and staff on IT systems
- Provide technical support and advice to external customers and 3rd party organizations
- Support network and server availability, reliability and security
- Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical staff
Required Skills and Experience
- Ability to operate [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal]’s desktop packages and business systems
- Working knowledge of networking protocols (e.g. TCP/IP, UDP/IP) and services (NFS, Samba, SSH, DNS, ISCSI)
- Educated to SCQF level 7 and/or demonstrate direct relevant experience
