Assistant Financial Accountant

[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is hiring an Assistant Financial Accountant in Leicester. Permanent, full-time position.

About The Role

As an Assistant Financial Accountant you will help to prepare the monthly accounts, complete journals, carry out account reconciliations and support budgeting, forecasting and other day to day tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the preparation of monthly management accounts, including reconciliations and variance analysis.
  • Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and appropriate supporting documentation.
  • Work collaboratively with the Shared Service Centre to ensure accruals, prepayments and postings are correct.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting, providing analysis and insight to Finance Managers and budget holders.
  • Assist with cost control, working closely with budget holders to monitor spend against targets.
  • Maintain the fixed asset register, including additions, disposals and depreciation.
  • Support internal and external audits, responding to queries in a timely and accurate manner.

About You

  • AAT qualification, an accountancy degree, or is qualified by experience (ideally studying or keen to study towards a professional qualification).
  • Experience in industry accounting, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong Excel skills (including VLOOKUPs and Pivot Tables).
  • Experience with accounting systems (Aurora or Microsoft AX experience is advantageous).
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • A proactive, flexible and positive approach, with a strong sense of ownership.
