Main Purpose of the Role

Dealing with and leading on IP matters to include:

  • securing clients Intellectual Property Rights
  • registering patents, trademarks and other relevant Intellectual Property Rights
  • drafting and reviewing licensing agreements
  • providing advice on non-contentious and contentious matters, including issues of passing off and infringement
  • advising clients in relation to all aspects of their cases and taking appropriate action throughout their particular matter
  • providing detailed and tailored advice to clients through skilled representation and personal support whilst providing an excellent client experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • excellent client facing skills and the ability to nurture existing clients and third party relationships
  • ability to prioritise work and to work to strict timescales where required
  • technical excellence
  • strong academic background
  • strong negotiation skills
  • ability to support the successful development of the firm in line with its overall objectives including client care
  • participating in marketing activities and actively seek cross referral opportunities and to market the firm’s services
  • maintaining good professional working relationships with external institutions and organisations
  • a willingness to work closely with other departments within the firm on joint projects
  • a commitment to driving the growth and future development of the department, the business of the firm as a whole and assisting in the continued growth of the client base
