Main Duties of the Job
The successful applicant will support the current delivery of the Consultant in Diabetes, Endocrinology and General Internal Medicine service at [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] and all associated Trust sites. Subspecialty interests can be accommodated upon future discussion. The appointee will join the existing team to provide specialist care and raise departmental profiles through teaching and education.

Job Responsibilities
- Provide, with colleagues, Diabetes, Endocrinology and General Internal Medicine services in both in-patient and out-patient settings.
- Contribute to on-call cover 9am-5pm for the department.
- Active participation in monthly clinical governance & academic meetings.
- Participation in meetings and other business of the service.
- Contribute to medical audit and clinical governance.
- Maintain professional development to Royal College of Physicians level and participate in annual appraisal.
Person Specification
Education and Qualification
Essential: Full registration with the GMC/eligible for registration within 6 months of CCST in specialty at interview date.
Desirable: Higher degree e.g. PhD/MD submitted/awarded.
Clinical Experience, Knowledge & Skills
Essential: Fully trained in Diabetes & Endocrine; previous responsibility for clinical governance and GMC Good Medical Practice; ability to make decisions at consultant level.
Audit Management & IT
Essential: Ability to work within clinical governance guidelines; undertake audits and present data; good IT skills, use of patient and hospital database.
Desirable: Evidence of clinical leadership role demonstrating accountability for quality of care, financial controls and efficient workforce management.
Research, Teaching Skill & Experience
Essential: Track record of publications in peer-reviewed journals; evidence of providing good teaching and supervision to trainees to the level of GMC accredited educational supervision.
Desirable: Educational qualification.
Patient Experience
Essential: Contributes to improving patients' experience; sees patients as individuals; ability to work in partnership; understanding of user involvement.
Personal Qualities
Essential: Able to abide by the Trust CARE Values (Compassionate, Aspirational, Respectful, Excellence); excellent communication and interpersonal skills; willingness to take responsibility; ability to work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary team.
