Salary: £25,760 - £27,476 yearly (Band 3)

Contract: Fixed Term, Full-Time (1 year)

Job Summary

We are pleased to be able to offer a 1 year fixed term opportunity for an enthusiastic and dedicated Medical Secretary to join our friendly and supportive Clinical Administration Secretarial Team within Cardiology. Medical Secretaries play a vital role in supporting our Clinicians in the delivery of excellence. Having excellent keyboard skills and attention to detail, you will transcribe clinical correspondence, adding patients to the waiting list, input data, amongst other essential tasks. Being a good communicator, you will be able to convey clear information to both internal and external stakeholders, whilst maintaining confidentiality. The team supports the Trust from two locations: [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] (Biomedical Campus, Cambridge) and Kingfisher House (Huntingdon). This post will be based at [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] but will be required to attend Kingfisher House. Once trained there will be an opportunity to work remotely for part of the week.

Main Duties, Tasks & Skills Required

  • Audio typing
  • Tracking patients through the pathway – Meeting Oncology waiting times
  • Adding patients to the waiting list
  • Communication with patients, relatives, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Diary management
  • Referral to Treatment (RTT)

Following training you will have: knowledge of administrative systems, good understanding of relevant patient information systems, good understanding of RTT, ability to input data carefully, minute taking training. Abilities should include excellent communication skills, computer skills, initiative, attention to detail, teamwork, and organisational skills.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential: Keyboard skills to RSA Level 2/3 or equivalent, English & Maths (grade 4-9), European Computer Driving License (ECDL) or equivalent.

Desirable: Level 3 or equivalent in Administration or Customer Service.

Experience

Essential: Previous experience of Microsoft Office, secretarial/administrative procedures, office environment, audio-typing, communication, attention to detail, teamwork, problem-solving, workload prioritisation, duty of care, quality maintenance, knowledge sharing.

Desirable: NHS experience, medical terminology, minute taking.
