Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled and motivated cardiac nurse to join the Cardiac rehabilitation Team at [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal]. We are looking to appoint a full-time band 6 Cardiac Rehabilitation Specialist Nurse to cover maternity leave till July 2027. The post requires dynamic, caring and compassionate nurses with excellent communication skills, ability to work independently, evidence of professional development and keen interest in health promotion. There will be a requirement to travel within Cambridgeshire to outreach setting in Cambourne.

Main Duties, Tasks & Skills Required

  • Provide education and support to patients post cardiac event in both in-patient and out-patient setting.
  • Use clinical knowledge/expertise to provide high standard of skilled care.
  • Manage own patient workload, prioritising needs and escalating as required.
  • Effectively plan, implement and evaluate rehabilitation care based on individual assessment.
  • Line manage administration staff within the team.
  • Be part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering cardiac rehabilitation in hospital, community, virtual and home-based exercise programmes.
  • Provide support and teaching to enable excellent patient care across all areas.
  • Regular one to ones, clinical supervision, appraisals and competency support.

Person Specification

Qualifications (Essential)

  • Professional adult nursing qualification with clinical knowledge to diploma or degree level.
  • Post graduate training in specialist area OR specialist knowledge across range of work procedures, underpinned by theoretical knowledge or relevant practical experience.
  • Leadership/management training and/or experience.
  • Registered with Nursing and Midwifery Council.

Experience (Essential)

  • Significant experience in field of own practice.
  • Experience of managing/supervising multi-disciplinary team and ability to mentor/educate junior staff.
  • Understanding of clinical governance frameworks (PSIRF), policy, audit and quality assurance.
  • Understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures, especially for vulnerable patients.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, problem solving, use of initiative, planning, organising and prioritising workload.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development and willingness to further training.
  • Competent IT skills.
