Senior Strategist (FTC maternity cover)

Core focus: integrated behaviour-change campaigns, PR-led partnerships from a creative or PR agency. Around 5-6 years exp. Location: London. Work type: Hybrid. Job type: Contract (Maternity Cover). Purpose of the Role
We are looking for an experienced Senior Strategist (5-6 years exp) to join our Strategy team on a 12-month maternity cover. The role has a core focus on integrated behaviour-change campaigns, as well as PR-led, partnership-driven executions. The work is primarily for government and charity clients. You will lead strategic thinking across existing accounts and new business, shape insight-led strategies, guide creative development and act as a senior strategic partner to both clients and internal teams.
What Will You Be Doing?
- Lead strategy across integrated and PR-first, partnership-led campaigns
- Provide senior strategic input across client work and new business pitches
- Lead research and insight development using qualitative, quantitative, generative AI and desk-based methods
- Analyse data, evidence, and context to identify clear and actionable insights
- Develop behaviour-change strategies, creative propositions, and campaign frameworks
- Work closely with creative, PR, social and account teams to shape strong creative work
- Write clear and inspiring creative briefs
- Present strategy confidently to senior clients and stakeholders
- Design evaluation frameworks and lead campaign effectiveness reviews
- Commission and interpret data and research to demonstrate impact
- Explore innovative and technology solutions beyond the brief – including the latest in Generative and Agentic AI
- Act as a senior voice within the Strategy team and support the development of more junior colleagues
You're Likely to Be
- An established Senior Strategist or Senior Planner from a creative, PR or integrated agency
- Strong in PR, partnerships, and earned-led campaign thinking
- Experienced working with government, public sector, charity, or purpose-driven organisations
- Comfortable operating at senior client level
- Motivated by work that focuses on behaviour change and social impact
You Know You're Right for This Role If You Can Demonstrate...
Competencies:
- Strong strategic and analytical thinking with the ability to simplify complex challenges
- Solid understanding of qualitative and quantitative research methods
- Confidence working with and interrogating data to generate insight
- A clear understanding of how PR, partnerships, and integrated communications drive results
- Skilled with Generative AI techniques, including writing brilliant prompts and judging generative outputs
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Good organisation and the ability to manage multiple priorities
Experience with tools such as YouGov, GWI or TGI is helpful but not essential.
