Specifications Technologist

[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is seeking a Specifications Technologist for a 12-month fixed-term contract at their Carlton, Barnsley site. This hybrid role (2 days working from home after training) involves creating, maintaining, and approving product specifications.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Create, maintain and approve product specifications for retailer, foodservice, B2B and branded products
  • Ensure all specifications and pack copy meet relevant legal, regulatory and customer requirements
  • Accurately collate, validate and input data into retailer and [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] specification systems
  • Review and approve artwork to ensure accuracy and compliance with specifications
  • Liaise with Technical, Procurement, Regulatory, R&D, Marketing, Project Managers and manufacturing sites
  • Respond to technical queries including allergen, ingredient, nutrition, shelf life and country of origin information
  • Maintain foodservice portals, spreadsheets and workload management tools
  • Support reporting, questionnaires and audits as required
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and identify development and training needs

What We Need From You

  • Specification Technologists with experience in a similar role and specification writing, or Graduates with a relevant Food Science/Food Technology degree
  • Strong attention to detail and confidence handling large volumes of data
  • Good organisational and time-management skills
  • The ability to manage multiple tasks to tight deadlines
  • Strong communication skills and the confidence to work cross-functionally
  • IT competence and the ability to work independently with initiative
