About the role...
We are looking for a Merchandiser to join our General Merchandise Merchandising team at [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal]'s Customer Support Centre (Head Office) in Walsall, working on a hybrid basis. The role partners with the Commercial team to deliver range construction, planned sales, profit and stock targets within defined categories. Your Impact and Responsibilities...
- Analyse historical information through SWOT assessments and lessons learnt presentations to develop sales and profit plans in line with business requirements
- Work with the Senior Merchandiser, buying and technical teams to shape departmental strategy based on trend, historical data and market knowledge
- Work within department leadership to deliver the supplier strategy, ensuring key objectives are achieved and risks minimised
- Support wider business objectives through key measures with focus on range size, product phasing and category mixes
- Work with Buying team to build balanced and profitable ranges within planned options, space and phasing guardrails
- Plan the range to ensure offer and buy fits sales and profit plan
- Review and react to trading conditions, adjusting plans to maximise sales and mitigate risk
- Input into Marketing Activity Planning Calendar
- Lead weekly trading process with buyer, identify opportunities and risks, formulate remedial actions
- Work through future promotional strategies ensuring proper planning and analysis
Skills and Knowledge...
- Experience within a similar Head Office Merchandiser role in the retail sector with a large store network; General Merchandise and/or Clothing sector highly desirable
- Strong working knowledge of the buying cycle and critical path process
- Knowledge of international supply chain processes to support the sourcing model
- Excellent analytic and numerical skills with ability to deliver sales and profit opportunities and manage budgets effectively
