Science Technician (Chemistry)

[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is currently recruiting for a part-time (2 day a week) Science Technician to join our team to support the Chemistry department. Our Chemistry department is one of the largest in the country, and we have a team of technicians supporting the teachers and students. If you have a science qualification to level 3 or above and have a genuine interest in science and education, we look forward to hearing from you.

  • Salary: Salary in the range £22,312 - £23,162 pa FTE. Actual salary: £6,631 - £6,884 per annum
  • Hours: 10:00 - 17:00 Friday plus either Wednesday or Thursday (or shorter hours over 3 days)
  • Contract: Permanent
  • Start Date: September 2024

Information About The Post

Science Technicians (Chemistry) – Ref: ChemTech2024 – 13 hours/2 days per week, for 39 weeks a year (0.2972 FTE). Salary in the range £22,312 - £23,162 pa FTE. Actual salary: £6,631 - £6,884 per annum. [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is a vibrant sixth form college in Winchester which has been rated by Ofsted as ‘outstanding’ in every respect. We have a large team of committed and talented staff who are at the heart of the success of the College. Our Chemistry department is one of the largest in the country. We have a team of Technicians working alongside the Teachers in the Faculty, supporting students in achieving exceptional results. Duties include preparing equipment for practical work, maintaining laboratory areas and liaison with staff in their work. The post is term time only plus Enrolment Week at the end of August. We are looking for one person to work two days a week, Friday plus one other from Wednesday and Thursday, or the hours spread over the three days. The ideal candidates will have a science qualification to level three or above, with a genuine interest in education and science. Experience working as a Science/Chemistry Technician would be an advantage but is not essential.
