[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is hiring a Trainee Clinical Scientist - Cardiac Science. This is a full-time, fixed-term position for 3 years, based at various sites across Wales. Salary range £40,559 to £48,841 per annum. Closing date: 13 May 2026.

Job Summary

[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] offers 7 salaried postgraduate training programmes in Cardiac Science for high-calibre science graduates. The Trainee Clinical Scientist will be employed by the host organisation for a fixed term of three years, combining work-based learning with an academic MSc programme.

Main Duties

  • Complete learning outcomes as outlined in Learning Guides
  • Progress through work-based competence and experience in NHS scientific departments
  • Undertake the complementary academic master's programme
  • Rotate through other areas as required

Qualifications and Skills

Essential

  • Honours degree (1st or 2.1) in a pure or applied science relevant to the specialism
  • Understanding of quality control and management assurance in a science or work-based context
  • Understanding of the role of chosen specialism in healthcare
  • Knowledge acquired through study and experience
  • Supervised clinical activity to postgraduate diploma level
  • Ability to develop proficiency in routine and complex techniques
  • Ability to design research investigations and experiments
  • Ability to identify problems with scientific equipment and plan corrective action

Desirable

  • Research experience (e.g., higher degree)
  • Welsh language skills
